COURSE OVERVIEW
Welcome to Ethical Storytelling. In this course, we discuss the ethics of storytelling. It’s important to tell stories ethically. Guilt marketing and poverty porn should be things of the past, yet these marketing tactics are still used today. Ignorance is not an excuse and we need to do better. In this course, we’ll share the best practices we use to tell stories ethically. We’ll also show you how story structure and The Hero’s Journey can help us remain ethical in our storytelling.
COMPLETING THIS COURSE WILL HELP YOU:
- Use story structure to ensure you’re telling the full story, a story that balances conflict with hope.
- Follow a set of guidelines that will inform your decision-making as you enter into any story project.
- Develop an understanding for why ethical storytelling is so important.
- Avoid the mistakes we and other ministries have made in the past.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This course is designed primarily for nonprofit marketing teams and executive leadership teams, although the tools we’ll share in this course are relevant in a wide variety of applications. Ethical Storytelling is something we should all be taking more seriously.
